To help you navigate through the sea of mobile apps out there, we have compiled a handy list of taxi booking apps in Singapore:

Grab Taxi

Created by Malaysian company MyTeksi, customers can use GrabTaxi to book a cab either for an immediate pick-up or a scheduled ride. Once you launch the app, you are able to see how many drivers are nearby, and you are able to have a glance of the estimated fee of your cab ride. There’s also a booking history where you can track when did you take a cab. The app is also available in Philippines and Thailand.

MoobiTaxi

MoobiTaxi is a taxi booking app which consolidates the mobile booking services of all Singapore taxi operators under one platform. Maven Lab, the company behind MoobiTaxi, also helped ComfortDelGro designed their corporate website, as well as building their taxi booking app. Simply tap on the “check in” button in the MoobiTaxi app to broadcast your pickup location to taxi drivers nearby. The app then sends your request to all the different taxi operators in Singapore.

Split It

Split-it! is a location based app that lets you book and share taxis on the go. Simply log in with your Facebook account, enter your starting point, destination, and choose whether to book a taxi (optional). After you have done that, you can choose from the list of profiles of people looking to travel along the same route. Use the in-app chat function to confirm your meeting point and to share your taxi booking.

Come Fetch Me

Come Fetch Me is an app that connects you with a taxi provider in Singapore. You can search all the pickups and taxis around you using this app. The app is only available on iOS and there is no website where you can find more information about the app.

TaxiMonger

Malaysia based TaxiMonger, which allows user to book a taxi, has also expanded its service in Singapore. However, users in Singapore are only able to book a trip to from Singapore to Malaysia’s big cities where the pick-up point is only at Taxi Terminal Queen Street, Ban San St, Singapore.

Taxi Booking

ComfortDelGro Taxi booking is the official taxi booking application by the taxi operator. The mobile application offers convenience to both registered and non-registered users by allowing them to book a taxi with their current location, determined by their phone GPS.

Easy Taxi

Founded by Tallis Gomes in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 2011, Easy Taxi connects drivers and passengers in a smooth, easy and safe way. The value proposition is straight-forward: download and launch the Easy Taxi app, confirm your pickup point and order your cab with the press of a button. In seconds you’ll receive confirmation of the name, photo and car model/plate of your driver, and will be able to follow the vehicle’s location in real-time as it approaches you.

Editor’s note: While Easy Taxi has not announced its official launch in Singapore, Easy Taxi’s Singapore website is accessible.

Uber

If you are looking for an alternative to taxis, Uber Singapore allows you to book a black luxury private chauffeur at a premium price. The app functionality is similar to other apps: you set your pick up location, and a driver will be on his way to pick you up. You can also track where his location is.

The company recently added a new UberXL category into its fleet of luxury black cars, catering to the party goers as well as families.

For now, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) has no issues with third-party booking apps — recognising the widespread use of smartphones — but it made clear that taxi drivers using these apps cannot collect fares which exceed what their companies have set.
