Love Out Loud Asia (LOLA), a Singapore-based mobile dating app, has just shared that they have been acquired by matchmaking giant in region, Lunch Actually.

Affectionately named LOLA, Love Out Loud Asia has an innovative system that matches couples by date ideas, using an activity-based approach to find similarities in potential lovers. Along with pattern-recognition in your histories of likes or passes (much like Tinder), image recognition technology, and Facebook details, LOLA is tailored to find the perfect date for you.

Clearly, the match-making abilities of LOLA has caught the eye of the giant in the industry, and want LOLA to join the already large family of the Lunch Actually Group.

First started in October 2013 by serial entrepreneurs Kenneth Lim, Wong Say Jon and Chua Chun Kiat, LOLA has sent over 350,000 matches and successfully paired over 10,000 singles across Southeast Asia with its ‘one match daily’ model.

Violet Lim, CEO of Lunch Actually Group commented, “As a company that constantly innovates to meet the changing needs of singles, we have been on the lookout to collaborate with mobile dating apps. We are impressed by the LOLA founders’ ability, high standards as well as their perseverance to build and scale an effective dating app with limited resources and budget. Kenneth, Say Jon and Chun Kiat will certainly fit well in our company culture and we are looking forward to work closely with them to continue to serve the needs of singles.”

The dating and matchmaking company is clearly aiming to expand its horizons.

Originally founded in Singapore and present in Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong, Lunch Actually has recently launched in Jakarta also well. It currently has a dating website under Lunch Actually’s wing, aptly named eSynchrony. However, it hasn’t reached the same levels of popularity as LOLA or Paktor, another popular local dating app.

“As talks progressed, we saw great synergy in both business and team culture as well as market access that would help us reach our ambitions of being the #1 mobile app for serious daters in the region, so we’re now taking the next big leap with the Lunch Actually Group,” said LOLA’s co-founder, Kenneth Lim.

According to LOLA, they’re already working on their next mobile app release. With Lunch Actually’s resources and LOLA’s innovations, we’re sure to expect something great from this duo. LOLA will still remain the same: users can still continue to use the app to discover their potential other half.
