Siri, the intelligent personal assistant which comes with all iPhone (with iOS 5 and above), could be learning Thai now.
According to a job listing on Apple posted two weeks ago, Apple is currently seeking language engineers for nine languages, including Thai, to “teach Siri how to understand and speak new languages.”
Does this mean Siri might finally understand Thai? Or even speak it? Apple has not made an official announcement regarding the language expansion, but the job listing points to the possibility Siri might be developed to support Thai along with Arabic, Brazilian Portuguese, Danish, Dutch, Norwegian, Swedish, Turkish and Russian.
“Come and join the team that teaches Siri how to understand and speak new languages,” the listing says, “We are looking for a highly motivated engineer, expert in foreign languages and with strong software development skills to join our team.”
Idownloadblog suggests Apple did not announce the new language features for Siri at The Apple Worldwide Developers Conference earlier this month, therefore the new languages are unlikely to be introduced in iOS 8. Either ways, this is an exciting news for many countries as English Siri currently does not work well for those who speak with an accent.
