Facebook Announced Two New Features And They Are Awesome!

Lately, every Facebook post I’ve read is chock-full of rants about the finicky weather.

A few weeks back, one friend of mine went on a rampage incessantly sharing dozens of disturbing videos – just the description alone gives me butterflies in the stomach. Don’t get me wrong, I would never condemn what my friends post on their Facebook timeline as I wish for the same freedom on mine. However, it’s times like these that made me wonder: is this all there is to Facebook?

Thankfully, the popular social networking site has stepped it up. Two new features were recently announced and to put it simply, they are wonderful.

As previously seen on POPSUGAR, the new “Save” feature allows users to bookmark content from the News Feed and Facebook Pages where they can revisit and read them later. Self-conscious about the articles you usually read? Worry what your friends might think of you because of the unhealthy number of celebrity gossip articles you read? Facebook feels you.

Unlike most features on the social networking site, users may choose to set their “saved” list to private. The feature is available for iOS, Android and web users. Check out this video to judge it for yourself!

And now, here’s a little something for our shopaholics.

A couple days back, Vulcan Post previously shared the online shopping statistics in Singapore and if you’ve seen it, you would know that it is expected to increase in demand. And why not?enablejsapi=1&html5=1& Virtual shopping is a breeze, and to do that in your PJs sounds perfect.

How would you like to shop directly from a business without leaving Facebook? Well, soon you can! According to The Straits Times, Facebook is secretly testing an on-screen button for buying feature, though currently it’s limited to a few small- or medium-sized businesses in the United States.

“We’ve built this feature with privacy in mind, and have taken steps to help make the payment experience safe and secure. None of the credit or debit card information people share with Facebook when completing a transaction will be shared with other advertisers, and people can select whether or not they’d like to save payment information for future purchases.” – Facebook

Granted, Ed Rosenbaum from Rainmaker Solutions made a profound point that “there are too many other proven-successful and direct outlets” when it comes to online shopping, but many (including yours truly) are looking forward to the new feature. Would this make Facebook a giant in ecommerce? If you’d ask me, the “Buy” button has a lot of potential and it definitely looks like it’s staying for good!

Fellow Vulcan Post readers, what are your thoughts on this potential feature?
