If you are based in Bangkok, chances are you would came across Tesco Lotus at your friendly neighbourhood.
If you have been getting your daily grocers at Tesco Lotus, you would be delighted to know that Tesco Lotus will soon introduce a new feature to its online shopping service called “Click and Collect”, enabling shoppers to make their purchase online and pick up the products from their local store.
Tesco sales are falling around the world, putting pressure on the management team led by Philip Clarke, but the retailer believes that investment in digital retail can drive growth. Tesco Group now offers its online shopping service in 10 countries, including South Korea, Malaysia, China, Ireland, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom and now Thailand.
The online service was started six months ago, according Bangkok Post. Tesco Lotus online grocer features over 20,000 grocery, fresh food and non-food products for home delivery.
“Customers in Bangkok love the Tesco Lotus online shopping service we started six months ago. They have told us Tesco Lotus online shopping makes their lives more convenient and saves them time and money on travel. Customers also enjoy a wide range of fresh food and grocery products available for them to choose online at Tesco Lotus prices.” – Tesco Lotus marketing director Wanna Swuddigul
With the positive feedback, the company has continued to add to its online shopping service capacity in Bangkok and has now expanded the service to Pattaya and Chiang Mai on Oct 22 and 24 respectively.
Before the “Click and Collect” feature was available, customers would have to choose and purchase their products online, and then pick one of six delivery timeslots available from 10am to 10pm, seven days a week. The grocers would then be delivered to their house at a fee.
For customers who would like to pick up their shopping cart instantly, the newly introduced “Click and Collect” service will be available from Nov 6, starting at Extra Ramindra store.
Here’s a video of how it works:
Tesco already offers click and collect in the UK, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Ireland. Thailand will be its first Asia country to enjoy the “Click and Collect” service.
John Christie, chief executive of Tesco’s Thailand business added that the “Click and Collect” has proved hugely popular in the UK, so it’s a “natural step” to offer this as an option for customers in Thailand and demonstrates Tesco’s multichannel strength in this part of Asia.
