SuperTravel.my, the online travel site that is quietly sprouting in Malaysia

Every month, over 7 million visitors visit Lelong.my, which currently features over 800,000 product listings on its site. These visitors spent over RM20 million on Lelong.my monthly, making it one of Malaysia’s largest e commerce site.

Earlier in October last year, the company quietly launched SuperTravel.my, its own version of online travel site.

Similar to other online travel websites such as Expedia, Orbitz or Booking.com, customers can use SuperTravel to search for hotels as well as tour packages listed on the website.

Using the site is relatively easy, just key in your destination, your date of travel, and SuperTravel. My will compare and search for the best tour packages or hotels for you. It promises no hidden charges, as well as instant confirmation for your bookings.

SuperTravel also features interesting listings such as Romantic Union, in conjunction with the month of Valentine’s Day:

Malaysia pushing for Tourism in 2014

Tourism in Malaysia is booming, especially when the country just announced over 1,000 new holiday packages in Malaysia yesterday. The new holiday packages are part of the Cuti-Cuti 1Malaysia (CC1M), launched in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2014. The packages range in price from as low as RM19.90 (S$7.60) to RM40,000 for a luxury tour. The packages were developed with the cooperation of 297 tour operators from all over the country.

With the country’s push for tourism, online travel site such as SuperTravel.my is bound to benefit from it. As of September last year, Malaysia recorded RM46 billion of tourism revenue with 23 million tourist arrivals. The Malaysian government expects to draw 28 million tourists and earn RM76 billion (US$23 billion). Not a hard feat for Malaysia. Tourism arrivals have been increasing each year and tourism is the third biggest income earner for the country.

While the website did not reveal how much traffic it currently has nor did it reveal the number of successful bookings, with the increased interest in Malaysia tourism as well as the traffic boost from its main site Lelong.my, SuperTravel.my stands a high chance to be one of Malaysia’s main online travel site.
