An unemployed 23-year-old man, Batman bin Suparman, was sentenced two years and nine months behind bars for multiple theft and housebreaking offences.
The Dark Knight finally enters Arkham Asylum.
Batman bin Suparman, whose name loosely translate to “Batman son of Suparman”, was arrested on August after security videos showed him sneaking into a store at night on two separate occasions. He stole a total of SD$500 (US$400) from the store. Other than that, Batman also admitted to several other charges including stealing his brother’s ATM card and consuming heroin.
His elder brother is Nurazman Suparman.
Batman became a social media sensation after an image of his identity card with his unusual name was circulated online. The internet spoke about him, including big names such as Gizmodo, Cheezburger and 9Gag. Do a simple Google image search of him and you will know how popular Batman is.
While Batman has finally fallen to 33 months of prison time in Singapore, and as the popular saying goes, you either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.
A ‘Batman bin Suparman Fan Club‘ page on social networking site Facebook has garnered nearly 11,000 likes so far.
Would Robin be hiding among the 11,000 fans? Only time will tell.
