Mi Singapore Celebrates Xiaomi’s 5th Birthday With Mi Fan Festival – Here’s How To Survive It

Xiaomi’s online party, Mi Fan Festival, is coming back on April 8. The annual event, usually adorned with gifts and discounts, will also celebrate Xiaomi’s 5th birthday.

To commemorate this special day, Xiaomi will be introducing a series of new Mi products here in Singapore. The new products will go on sale, amongst their existing products, in two time slots: 12-2pm and 8-10pm.

If you are a big fan of their existing products, you will be able to enjoy up to 90% discounts from 10am to 10pm, and even use coupons won from playing Xiaomi’s Give Mi Five game for further discounts.

Lei Jun notes that Xiaomi’s 5th anniversary is a key milestone and thanked the fans for their support over the past 5 years.

Survival Tips

Be aware:

If you go into this event thinking it’s going to be like any other online shopping site, then you’re not mentally prepared. The Mi Fan has always been one of the craziest events, with 16 orders being made per minute, and 11,514 orders within the 12 hours. That’s 11,514 people you are fighting with.

Create a Mi Account:

Don’t wait for the day to come, sign up for one now before the website goes crazy.

Start playing for coupons:

Since you’re signed in early, try your hand at the Give Me Five game – it’s live now, and any coupons you win will be saved into your account page. It took me no more than a minute to get a $4 Mi Accessories Coupon. That’s almost a free phone cover! The best thing is that the attempts are limitless.

Here is a list of coupons and gift cards you can win:

Any coupon or giftcard not used by 10pm will disappear, like all your hopes and dreams.

More is better:

Yes, Mi products are very cheap, and that’s part of the reason why we love them. But remember that if you order anything less that S$50 after any coupon or gift card usage, you will be charged a S$6.99 shipping fee. So pool your orders together!

Get a Paypal account:

Not only will having a Paypal account make checking out much easier and stress-free, but if you’re planning to get any of the items below, you get a special price with 30% off. However, you won’t be able to use it with your coupons or giftcards, so use your own judgement to see which discount will be more worth it.

Know what you want:

Do your research, and go straight for what you have your eye on. With so many goodies available, if you just decide to stroll in and see what’s available, you may end up disappointed by the many “Out Of Stock” notifications you may get. Be warned.

Be Lucky:

This one isn’t really advice, but Xiaomi’s tradition has always been to select random lucky winners, and completely refund them their total bill. However, orders must have the Redmi 2, Redmi Note 4G or Mi Pad in them, so don’t hold back! There will be 6 winners, one selected every 2 hours, and they will be contacted via email and announced on Facebook and the Mi Community.

What we’re missing out on

Since Xiaomi’s hometown is in China, the Mi Fan Festival in China will also introduce another slew of new Xiaomi products, including the Mi Note Pink Edition, a 55 inch Mi TV, and a Mi Power Strip. The specs are below.

Mi Power Strip

Mi Smart Scale

Redmi 2A

Perhaps we’ll see some of these new products come to Singapore soon, but for now we must stay content and look to our own sales.
