Fans of MyRepublic and commitment-phobic Singaporeans in general, rejoice: MyRepublic has just announced its launch of Singapore’s first 1Gbps No Contract plan at the price of S$69.99/month.
As the name suggests, the No Contract broadband plan isn’t the 12- or 24-month contract typically offered by telcos — it’s specifically designed for those who prefer not to commit to any contract. It’s the first of its kind to be launched in Singapore, and it gives users greater freedom in choosing or switching between broadband plans. According to MyRepublic, a “small but significant demographic” here is in favour of plans without a yearly contract obligation.

As you can see, it isn’t quite “no contract” so much as a significantly shorter one — early termination of contract plans typically comes with penalty charges, and cancellation of the No Contract plan doesn’t carry a penalty only after three months. But it’s an attractive package at an affordable price, and if MyRepublic’s service wins you over, you’ll also be able to get your first month’s subscription fee waived when you move to a 1Gbps contract plan.
