Have you ever wish that every video game that you play could become a reality? That’s where the inspiration for escape rooms came from. These escape rooms are more or less like the one that you play in your devices, whereby players have to go through complicated puzzles and solve them to find clues and escape the room within a set time limit.

The number of escape rooms within Klang Valley is mushrooming in these recent years and it has spurred interest among locals and tourists to pay around RM30 to RM70 just to enjoy the fun of being trapped in a room. Here is a list of escape rooms for you to attempt to escape from with friends or family.

1. Escape Room – Malaysia

Escape Room was founded in July 2013 and it was the first real-life escape game in the Klang Valley. Strategically located at the golden triangle of Kuala Lumpur Berjaya Times Square, Escape Room has now expanded to nine outlets nationwide at Johor, Sarawak, Penang, and Negeri Sembilian.

2. Breakout Malaysia

Currently there are two Breakout Malaysia outlets, located at Nu Sentral and Avenue K. Breakout was founded in 2014 and what sets them apart is that they offer role-playing and different story lines so that participants can be immersed in a surreal ambiance as if they’re part of an on-going scene from a movie.

3. Freeing Room

If you’re paying a visit to Taman Connaught Pasar Malam, perhaps you could go earlier to check out Freeing Room. Just like most of the live escape games, they have sophisticated rooms, different story lines that enables participants to play different roles in diverse stories. But one added feature Freeing Room has is that if you do not escape from the room successfully, you will have to go through a punishment. According to their website, it is an “inconceivable SHOCKING punishment”. We are a little scared, but perhaps you might be up for the challenge.

4. Code Factory

Located at Jaya Shopping Centre, Code Factory offers different real life escape games where participants can show off their talent by solving, decoding, and breaking puzzle in 50 minutes. The additional 5 minutes is a plus point because most escape rooms only offer their players 45 minutes.

5. Escape Zone

Their Facebook page has gathered more than 12k likes and they are located in Kota Damansara. If you’re into solving complex puzzles, or you think you’re just generally clever and looking for a challenge, My Escape Zone is the place for you.
