Originally from Penang, Megan Tan and her family moved to Kuala Lumpur when she was 6 years old. Her career in the entertainment industry started when she won 8TV’s Quickie search competition in 2010. A former Psychology student, she would probably be pursuing a career in the subject if she weren’t an entertainer. Currently, Megan is an emcee, actress, and TV host/personality.
This week, we got the privilege to talk to Megan about her love for fitness, and asked her for some health-related tips.
What fitness related mobile apps do you use?
I don’t normally use mobile apps during my workout but the only app I do use that’s related to fitness is GYM BOSS. Haha it’s kinda like a timer and it has the timing for all my different workouts like abs, planks, arm routine and etc.
Do you watch YouTube videos to work out? If yes, which YouTubers do you subscribe to/watch?
Yes I do! I am hopeless when it comes to working out on my own. I need someone to constantly push or motivate me and that’s why I love Xhit Daily! The trainer doesn’t just show you the workout but does it with you for the entire duration with positive remarks. Every now and then, I will also check out the Victoria Secret model workouts.
What is your fitness mantra?
There is no such thing as an ugly woman. Only lazy ones.
Tell me what are the gadgets you use while working out.
I need to have my phone with me cos I listen to Spotify when I work out, and earphones, if that’s considered a gadget. LOL.
What is your favourite website/app for healthy recipes?
To be honest, I don’t normally cook hence I don’t browse through apps or websites for healthy recipes! Sorry to disappoint. I allow myself to eat anything I want in moderation and make sure I keep an active lifestyle to burn away the excess calories. I am not as fit as I’d like to be just yet but I ain’t giving up either.
Any words of encouragement for fitness lovers/people who want to get healthy?
Find your motivation and then just work your butt off! I promise you, you will feel much better and confident about yourself once you’ve put in the effort to keep fit and stay healthy and of course, change doesn’t happen overnight so it really does take perseverance and consistency is key!
