StarHub Partners With Cashback Site ShopBack For Sexy New Rewards Programme!

For a while now, one of the startups we have been keeping an eye out for is ShopBack. For those unfamiliar with the platform, ShopBack has emerged as one of Singapore’s leading cashback sites, which allows you to earn cash when you shop through their website. They have hundreds of merchant partners onboard, including popular brands like ASOS, Groupon, Lazada and Zalora.

And it seems like the company has just scored a sweet partnership with StarHub, one of Singapore’s main telcos.

As part of StarHub’s revamped customer incentives programme StarHub Rewards, the partnership will offer StarHub rewards points to those who shop at ShopBack via starhub.com/shopback. These points can then be used to redeem other deals and treats available on the StarHub platform. According to StarHub, perks will include “money-can’t-buy experiences” such as exclusive opportunities with celebrities.

This customer incentives programme by StarHub is the most rewarding and comprehensive to date in Singapore’s info-communications industry. Recognising that customers are at the heart of its business, StarHub has beefed up its StarHub Rewards, enabling them to earn and redeem points sooner, and from a greater selection.

StarHub: Customers at the Heart of its Business

According to the press release from StarHub, customers can enjoy perks through StarHub Rewards Points even at low spending thresholds:

“From as little as 100 StarHub Rewards Points, customers can redeem exciting 1-for-1 dining treats, or a minimum of 350 Points to redeem $5 off StarHub services. As part of StarHub’s SG50 promotions, customers can also look forward to redeeming over 5000 items for only 50 StarHub Rewards Points across a span of five weeks from early July.”

Ms Jeannie Ong, Chief Marketing Officer of StarHub, also added, “at StarHub, we value the loyalty and support of our customers. That is why we enhanced our loyalty programme around their needs; to reward them with what is relevant to them. We recognise that, increasingly, consumers are shopping online, hence, our partnerships with Agoda and Shopback will enable customers to be rewarded whenever they shop online with our partners.”

Loyalty programmes are not uncommon, with Singtel and M1 having their own rewards programmes. However, StarHub seems to be actively pushing for higher customer satisfaction by bringing in new partners like ShopBack, which might be more appealing to a growing segment of the online population.

Singtel and M1’s loyalty programmes now pale in comparison with StarHub’s. Take M1’s loyalty program, for example, which reads: “Simply continue being an M1 customer and look forward to a Loyalty Bonus Voucher of up to $50 annually from your fifth year onwards.” Customers who stay more than 5 years should definitely expect to be rewarded more.

Singtel rewards.

Perhaps Singtel and M1 should also partner with sites like ShopBack to reward their customers. I know I will definitely be a happier Singtel customer if I could enjoy more perks from my telco. After all, with Singtel’s recent rebranding, they made the brand promise of offering better customer experience.
