Why would you need sleeping pods and a masseuse in an office? Why wouldn’t you! The office in question — Garena — has really got it well thought out. With over 300 employees to accommodate (and targeting to house up to 500), their former digs was not going to do anymore.
Garena is an internet platform provider, based in Singapore. Since their inception as an online gaming service provider and distributor, they’ve since diversified the business from just entertainment to three more business verticals, namely communication, e-Payments and m-Commerce.
According to Garena, employment size had been doubling every year over the past three years, and they quickly outgrew their little shophouse on Murray Street. And it looks like they really levelled up; Garena now occupies the top two floors of the state-of-the-art Galaxis building at One-North. Wait till you see how it looks like inside.
With clear views and a lot of natural light pouring in from the floor-to-ceiling windows, Garena has also placed live greeneries throughout the office for some well-deserved eye rest for employees. Transparency is also a constant theme in the Garena HQ, and offices are made of glass to show a sense of openness and transparency.
The cluster concept is also adopted for the employees’ workspace, to encourage a collaborative and interactive working environment. If you ever need a break from the desk and chair, feel free to work from one of the standing desks. They’ve really thought of everything.
And we saved the best for last: massage services are available twice a month for each employee, and they also get sleeping pods for power naps, an air hockey table, private phone booths, and a well-stocked pantry. This office is the gift that keeps on giving.
