SingTel launches Singapore’s first prepaid mobile Facebook plan

SingTel, Singapore’s main telco, has just announced their launch of what claimed to be Singapore’s first prepaid mobile Facebook plan. Customers who are on prepaid plan are now able to access Facebook on their mobile phone.

Available from as little as S$0.50 cents per day, the plan makes it more affordable for SingTel prepaid customers to post comments, videos and photos, stay in touch with friends and family, and keep up with what’s going on in the world through the popular social network site.

Many of our customers are avid Facebook users who frequently access the site via their smartphones and tablets. The plan we have launched today enables our prepaid customers to get their Facebook fix without worrying about incurring additional data charges. Customers can also be assured of the best possible Facebook experience on-the-move with SingTel’s award-winning 3G and 4G networks, which offer the fastest mobile speeds in Singapore,” said Mr Johan Buse, SingTel’s Vice President of Consumer Marketing

Mr MJ Choi, Facebook’s Head of SEA, said: “Facebook’s mission is to give people the power to share and make the world more open and connected. We’re delighted that with this plan, SingTel prepaid subscribers can enjoy virtually unlimited access to Facebook at a very affordable price.

Here’s the pricing plan for SingTel’s prepaid mobile Facebook plan:

7-day plan $3.00
30-day plan $6.00

The plan is compatible with iOS, Android, Windows and Blackberry smartphones and tablets, as well as devices that support the Facebook Java-based app. This is definitely good news for customers whom are in Singapore for a short term and do not have any reasons to sign on a data contract with SingTel.

The Facebook plan is the latest addition to SingTel’s growing suite of prepaid social plans. In August 2013, SingTel launched Whatsapp and Opera Mini Surf and Mail plans, which enables customers to send unlimited instant messages and surf the web as much as they wish from 50 cents per day.

This isn’t the first time Facebook partners with a telco to access users who without data charges. In November last year, Facebook has also partnered with Philippine network provider Globe Telecom, where its subscribers will be able to access and use Facebook for free through their mobile browsers and its designated Facebook native app for a period of three months. No data charges will be applied to subscribers accessing Facebook.
