IKEA Singapore recommends you furniture based on your zodiac sign

IKEA, the world’s largest furniture retailer, has always been well known for its creative marketing campaigns.

If that doesn’t ring a bell, you might have came across this IKEA cat marketing campaign in 2010 which resurfaced recently and subsequently went viral:

This year, with 2014 being the Year of the Horse in the Chinese Lunar Calendar, IKEA has teamed up with BBH Asia Pacific to create a new way for customers to shop based on their Chinese zodiac signs.

Here’s how the campaign works: head over to the IKEA Singapore Facebook page and enter your birth date or click on your sign, and the ‘2014 Zodiac’ app will recommend ‘compatible’ furniture for you.

So for instance, if you are born on the year of dragon, IKEA will recommend you the following furniture which supposedly matches your “luck” this year:

IKEA is just one example of company leveraging on technology and social media to generate more sales especially during this festive season. Definitely a fun way to browse and shop for furniture, and who knows, you might just find something that fits your home this year.
