The allure of board game cafés is growing rapidly in our country, especially within the Klang Valley as we see the interest in these games developing by the minute. Some may claim that board and card games ruin friendships because it can tend to get rather intense at times; however, aside from (possibly) challenging friendships, this activity also challenges the mind and one’s creativity. In fact, players won’t realise how much time flies whilst engaging in the games, be it Settlers of Catan or Risk.

Boardgame Depot is well known among the board game community in Klang Valley due to its array of board games. People flock to this café for its high-end designer offerings such as King of Tokyo, Machi Koro and Apples to Apples. Besides board games, there is also a selection of snacks and books to keep one entertained up till closing hours.

2. The Border City Café and Board Games

This is the perfect spot to chill and relax with a group of friends because they offer affordable lunch sets to fuel the mind as it helps you navigate through board games such as Blokus and Ticket to Ride. Though people come here for the food, they often stay for the fun. Birthday parties are also held here to celebrate the little ones as well a s the seniors, all whilst challenging them to a game or two.

3. Meeples

Meeples is a well-known hang out spot among those who are undertaking their tertiary education due to the fact that it is within close proximity to several colleges in SS15. The boardgame café has been around for some time but still it continues to remain abuzz with players enjoying the games well past midnight. Meeples also offers board games which players can purchase to play in the comfort of their own homes.

4. All Aboard Community Gaming Centre

All Aboard Community Gaming Centre’s interior is reminiscent of a Chinese-style restaurant with its cushioned chairs and cloth-clad tables. However it does not serve up Asian cuisine but instead offers games to kill boredom. What’s special about this café is that it also offers players an option to bring their own board games from home. All you need to pay for is the space, and the table that you will occupy whilst playing.

5. Classroom Café

Card games are equally as fun as their board game counterparts and Classroom Café provides just that. Currently they offer 3 major card game titles which are Magic the Gathering, Krosmasters: Arena and Juara Nusantara, a Malaysian card game. The café currently does not offer food.
