For all the geeky friends out there, after the big hoo-ha created by the launch of Apple iPhone 6, another long waited product, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is set to meet fans in Malaysia next Wednesday, October 15. According to a report by TechNave, Samsung Malaysia has already had the invites for the launching event sent out to the media.

“Our invite revealed that we’ll all know a bit more on 15 October 2014,” TechNave wrote.

Whether the exact release date for Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is confirmed or not; one thing for sure, Malaysian fans will definitely be meeting this new smartphone this month. With the latest Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus, which comes in a larger screen, will the coming Samsung Galaxy Note 4 lose out some of its popularity?

Although the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 does not have much breakthrough in terms of the screen size, but with the evolved S Pen feature, it will definitely be a fierce competitor to the iPhone 6 series.

“With the introduction of the Galaxy Note series, we brought the age-old culture of the pen and notepad into the digital world. The new Galaxy Note 4 introduces the most refined Note experience to-date by combining all the latest technology that users expect from the Galaxy series,” Samsung Electronics chief executive officer and head of IT & Mobile Communication JK Shin said in a statement early of last month.

Unlike Apple, it looks like Samsung does not put much effort in improving the device’s size and design, but more on improving its technology and specs, which is one of the good reason for users to choose a Galaxy Note 4 over iPhone 6 Plus (sorry Apple fans, but Apple took too long to realise that size does matter). The new Galaxy Note 4 is slightly bigger than its previous Galaxy Note 3 which has 5.3 inch screen.

This old feature is making a comeback with double the sensitivity, and new fountain pen and calligraphy pen options. According to a writer from Stuff who had spend a brief time doodling at the IFA 2014 event in Germany, the feeling for the S Pen is rather “positive”.

“Writing feels natural, and the pressure, speed and even tilt of the device itself all affect the thickness and opacity of the virtual on-screen ink in a totally natural way,” Stuff wrote, adding that the S Pen can also be used to highlight text and select multiple pictures, similar to how you do it on your computer using a mouse.
