We refer to the article published on 5 June 2015 by Vulcan Post titled “8 Wise Lessons on Wealth that Singapore’s Self-Made Tycoon Peter Lim Can Teach Us”. Section 3 of the article, titled “More money, more problems”, reports Mr Peter Lim as saying: “Money is a funny thing. When you don’t have it, you want it. But when you have it, you have a lot of problems. I believe that if I’d had no money, I wouldn’t have had my divorce. Things wouldn’t be good, but it wouldn’t end up in divorce”.
It has been brought to our attention by Ms Venus Teo, the former wife of Mr Peter Lim, that when the divorce matter referred to in the article above was brought before the court, it was a finding of fact made by the court that the marriage had broken down not because of financial reasons. In this regard, a newspaper article published by The New Paper on 24 August 1999 had reported on the Court’s findings of fact. The newspaper excerpt containing the article can be found below.
