To celebrate Oscars, KFC gave out its own awards for best tweets

KFC, one of the world’s leaders in fast food, which serves finger-licking good fried chickens, is giving out its own awards for best tweets. Called the #BucketAwards, it is done in conjunction with the Oscar Awards in Hollywood.

Four awards were created by KFC’s #BucketAwards:

  1. Sauciest Tweet Performance – Sassiest tweet of the night
  2. Mac and Cheesiest Tweet in a Supporting Side – Best Pun of the Night
  3. Hottest Wing Zing Performance of the Night – Best burn of the night
  4. Most Chicken Tender Moment Performance – Most emotional or tear jerking tweet

And here are the finalists:

KFC has been using twitter as a form of engagement for their customers. Earlier in 2010, Louisville-based KFC offered a $20,000 scholarship for a single tweet. With a character limit of 140, the entries are judged based on quality, creativity, ability to tell a story on why they should receive the award, and the entrepreneurial drive and desire to pursue a college education.

Amanda Russell, a California high school girl was the winner of the $20,000 university scholarship. Her entry, “Hey Colonel! Your scholarship’s the secret ingredient missing from my recipe for success! Got the grades, drive, just need cash!” was selected from more than 2,800 Twitter entries.
