Lazada M’sia Employees Are About To Work For 24 Hours Straight—And They Don’t Even Mind

As any working adult knows, there’s bound to be moments when you’re required to do some extra jobs outside of the normal working hours. Most of us would just grit our teeth and bear it, knowing it’s all part of the gig.

Well, how do you think Lazada employees will be feeling when they find out they’ll be working for 24 hours from November 10 leading up to November 11?

Surprisingly, no tables were flipped. In fact, they wouldn’t mind at all. And here are the reasons why.

1) Relaxing massages to release the tension.

Even just sitting in one position for a solid hour is enough to make some parts of your body ache. If you’re going to be in the office for 24 hours, you’re going to be exhausted and those muscles are going to be stiff.

So to combat that, Lazada will be inviting 10 blind masseuses from Pertubuhan Pembangunan Orang Buta Malaysia to provide 10-minute head and shoulder massages to employees.

Extra cookies go to Lazada for also spreading awareness about visual impairment in Malaysia and supporting this local organisation.

2) Unlimited free food all day.

Meals won’t be a worry for any of the employees during this crazy period. Unlimited food will be served throughout the day to make sure the team’s appetite is always satisfied. After all, when they’re working round the clock, the last thing that should be a distraction is an empty stomach. All they’d need to do is decide what to put on their plate for round one (and the next few rounds too).

3) Ready supply of Kronenbourg beers for an entire day.

Let’s face it, many of us love to kick back with an ice cold beer in hand after a long, tiring day in the office. Recognising this, Lazada will be putting up a bar for their employees in conjunction with Kronenbourg 1664 Pause for Le Moment. What’s best is it will be supplied from evening onwards—you know, in case any of them need an extra buzz to keep them alive and awake while burning midnight oil. It’s hard to say no to a frothy cool drink to wash a long day down.

4) Red Bull to be served.

If caffeine and alcohol doesn’t seem to be enough to get the team going, there’s also the option of the energiser drink Red Bull. Cans will be served to all staff specially by the members of the Red Bull Wings Team who will be present to distribute and join the party. Getting served energising beverages? Sign us up please.

5) All employees will have a “survival kit”.

There’s always a part of us who actually enjoys merchandise, especially when it’s designed to look as adorable as this.

To keep up the spirit of teamwork, Lazada will be providing their employees a ‘survival’ kit full of goodies such as mugs, T-shirts, and bandanas.

6) I scream for ice cream.

Being a stress eater, one particular snack I tend to look for when pressure’s getting to me are sweets. And if the sweet stuff is cold and pleasant, even better. Lazada knows this will help keep their employees awake so they’ve prepared ice cream potong with various flavours through all their locations for the employees in case they need something extra to cool the stress away.

7) Party breaks in between.

Lazada understands that working for the whole 24 hours would make anyone cry from stress. So to avoid that, entertainment is provided all day long for when they need to get a little break. There will be board games and movies at the pantry for that much needed chill session so that staff can just unwind and let their minds relax, even if it was for just a moment before getting back to productivity.

8) Coffee and instant-noodle pop-up bars.

Coffee and instant noodles are a staple diet for any Malaysian. As most of the staff will be glued to their seats during this day, they are probably going to want meals to be prepared easily and fast. So to accommodate that, Nestlé would be setting up a booth to distribute coffee and noodles to employees too just in case they’d rather just snack on something while working at their desks.

9) Closing party to applaud the hard work of employees.

To commemorate the sweat, hard work, dedication and tears of the entire team, Lazada will organise a closing party at the end of the sale where all staff are invited with their plus one’s to let loose and party their stress away. Recognition is also given to employees with outstanding achievements during the 24-hour period of hardship, and incentives will be given out through the party night.

So why are these employees working 24 hours in the first place?

It’s because Lazada will be running their Online Revolution Campaign from 11th November 2016 till 14th December 2016. As one of the largest online shopping events to happen in Southeast Asia, it’ll bring together brands, retailers and consumers from across six countries.

Originally it was started as a one day sale on 12.12.12 but now it has evolved to become an annual month-long shopping event.

Shoppers can look forward to hefty discounts up to 95% for over 7 million products covering big brands such as Samsung, Drypers, Nestle, L’oreal and many more. There will even be flash sales where items will go as low as RM5.90.

The sale also brings exclusive combos such as a free gift with selected purchases and a “buy 1 free 1” deal on selected items.
