Donald Trump Turned The Country Red On Polling Day, But These Petitions Say Otherwise

What should have been a day for celebration as Hillary Clinton took the podium in a victory speech ended with the world reeling as Donald J. Trump instead was the one who made that victory wave.

Barely an hour after Trump was declared new President-elect, due to take over the Oval Office on January 20, 2017, America had taken to the streets, to the extent that they even managed to stop traffic.

And even now, the country is still rioting as the violence level begins to escalate.

Meanwhile, other are taking to (somewhat) safer methods of lobbying.

#StopHateDumpTrump

#StopHateDumpTrump is a petition aimed to get Trump foisted off the Presidential race, with stop #Trumpbullying as its core message. Unlike other newer campaigns, #StopHateDumpTrump has been running since January 2016. And even before its 24 hour mark, it had already garnered 7,000 supporters.

Conceived by Eve Ensler of The Vagina Monologues, the campaign was a channel for people to “see they’re not alone, to see there are many people feeling the same thing”.

Trump petitions also kept on coming during the elections, with activists putting pressure on moderators to do more stringent checks on Trump’ words.

In all honesty, the chances of the newfound Trump presidency being overthrown by petitions are not heartwarming in the least. In US history, only two presidents have been successfully impeached – Andrew Johnson in 1868 and Bill Clinton in 1998.

When Barack Obama first took the office, there were also plenty of petitions against him. However, America’s first African American president has now served 2 consecutive terms, and is hailed as one of America’s greatest leaders.

But history is not stopping the people of America, and people are becoming increasingly vocal in their desire to impeach Trump.

Impeach Trump

With the ultimate irony of one petition being hosted on the official White House website.

At the moment, the cause to have him removed from office has surged to 5000%, and the #impeachtrump hashtag trending on Twitterverse.

People are lobbying extra hard now, especially since University of Utah Law Professor Christopher Lewis Peterson has announced that there is actually a strong chance of impeaching Trump.

Not only that, but that it can be done within weeks.

Quick action here is vital, as once Trump officially takes the White House, he will become “immune from lawsuits“. As it stands, America’s next Boss is already due to go to court even before he takes the office.

You can read the full analysis here, but in a nutshell, Professor Peterson’s case is based on the scandals surrounding Trump University.

Trump University used a systemic pattern of fraudulent representations to trick thousands of families into investing in a program that can be argued was a sham.

US law states that it is unlawful for companies “to use false statements to convince consumers to purchase their services“. And so what Trump University and by extension, Trump, has done, is sufficient to argue for the law to impeach Trump. If, and only if, #impeachtrump works, Mike Pence stands to take office.

So… either way, it seems Hillary Clinton is out of the running.
