PIXEL Studios Is The Latest Competitor In The List Of Singapore’s Coolest Spaces

Today, the Info-communications Media Development Authority of Singapore (IMDA) opened PIXEL Studios, a brand new collaborative space for digital media creators.

PIXEL stands for Promising Innovations and Experiential Learning, and true to its name, the space boasts a full ensemble of facilities and resources.

According to Minister of Communications and Information Dr. Yaacob Ibrahim, who was there to grace the event, content creators will be able to “meet with like-minded people from diverse backgrounds […] and experiment with new ways of media content creation and storytelling” at the new facility.

The Studios are managed by Nanyang Polytechnic, which IMDA has been partnering with since 2011 to foster talent in the Games industry.

The Oh-So Cool Space

The different areas of the Studios feature interesting themes such as a vintage diner,

and a kopitiam where creators can hold presentations in a relaxing familiar environment.

And if you ever get bored of the same environment, why not utilise the office bar?

Not for drinking of course.

But not every room is all fun and games, PIXEL Studios also boasts open spaces and functional sets for video makers.

And of course, what’s modern day content creation without cool tech? PIXEL Studios is also stocked up with the latest gadgets in VR for creators to play with.

Already, the Studios are home to 17 game startups, who will be moving over from the former Games Solution Centre’s premises at Block 71.

Other partners include Autodesk, Dailymotion, as well as game companies Pangaea Interactive and goGame, a local brand with the backing of gaming giant SEGA.

Partnerships with Samsung, Starhub and Stylehaul also mean that creators will have the chance to get equipped with resources and skills for digital content creation. For example, Starhub and Samsung will be conducting workshops and training programmes for creators in their areas of expertise.

In addition to the new Studios, IMDA’s Singapore Film Commission (SFC) has also partnered with other agencies and location owners to establish filming friendly zones at the one-north precinct in a bid to help filmmakers have more options in filming locations when conducting small to medium-sized shoots.

If the new space is giving you office envy, you’ll be glad to know that PIXEL Studios is actively inviting other content creators and professionals to join their community.

So if you are interested in being part of their family, you can check out the details at www.IMPIXEL.sg.
