We’re not quite done yet with the 2016 throwback, because YouTube just decided to join in with theirs.

In the past week, we’ve seen the “Best of 2016” by both Apple and Google, showcasing the apps and content that users of both camps have been using and consuming.

Now YouTube has provided some insights to the top videos that Singaporeans have been watching in 2016.

YouTube Rewind & Replay

Today, YouTube just dropped their annually-anticipated Rewind video, compiling the greatest hits on the platform in 2016.

Circling around this year’s theme of “Rewind Reality”, YouTube partnered with 200 top creators from around the world and was supported by music remixed by Major Lazer to release this year’s video.

They even have a dedicated site for this year’s Rewind, along with a quiz and all the profiles of the YouTube creators involved in the video. The video celebrates all of the year’s top trending viral videos, music videos, and most subscribed personalities on the platform.

Everything from Pokemon GO, PPAP, to the most overplayed songs of the year have been crammed into a video under 7 minutes, so you have been warned. (For a full list of the most watched videos on YouTube click here.)

Still, it is perfectly-executed production fitting for a finale to 2016 – but what about us in Singapore?

National Day songs seem to still remain close to our hearts, as this year’s theme song by local band 53A took the third place.

Next, in fourth place, Nathan Hartono stole the hearts of Singaporeans on the first episode of Sing China.

Another local favourite, YouTube creator JianHao Tan, rounded off the Singaporean contingent with his 8 Types of Pokemon GO Players video at ninth.

Music videos-wise though, it is more or less the same as our friends abroad, with the usual chart toppers such as The Chainsmokers, and Calvin Harris among others, dominating the charts.

Interest in the platform is still at an all-time high according to YouTube, with them saying that watch-time among Singaporeans has increased by 35%.

There is also an increase in foreign viewership in our local productions, with 69% more viewers from overseas tuning into our local creators.

So here’s to more awesome local content in 2017.

To sign off, here’s the video that sits at the number spot on the Singapore top 10 trending videos – it seems a lot of us like it very much.
