With the launch of the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X, Apple finally brought the augmented reality (AR) experience into iOS, and millions worldwide thanks to the A11 Bionic chip powering these new devices.

So it is no surprise that in the App Store, many have taken an interest AR and it shows in the increased number of apps taking advantage of this technology.

Titles like My Hungry Caterpillar brought classic children’s book characters to life, while AR Dragon brought the much-loved virtual pet simulator genre into the real world (sort of).

On the wellness front, this year saw a surge in apps focusing on mental health, mindfulness, and stress reduction.

Colouring book apps such as Bloom and Lake are popular with people looking to de-stress, while meditation app, Zen Studio, joins the growing list.
