MapleStory fans everywhere have been waiting for this day to come.
Game developer and publisher, Nexon, has finally released its mobile version of the popular PC game, MapleStory M, today (25 July).
As of 1pm Singapore time, the game can be played.
Its based on the 2D side-scrolling massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) that made its debut in 2003.
In the past, there have been a few mobile renditions of the game such as Pocket Maplestory but they have been shut down.
To celebrate the launch of the mobile game in the same side-scrolling format, Maplers who login and play over the next 14 days, from now till 21 August, can collect daily rewards ranging from EXP tickets to Hair Salon Coupon.
If you have pre-registered for the game, you can collect your rewards from now until 21 August as well.
Until July 31 2018, MapleStory M streamers will also have the opportunity to win extra rewards.
According to Venture Beat, there are 150 levels of content, like new character classes, mobile-friendly interface, character customisation, and the good ol’ dungeons that you can play with friends.
There will be pets (!!) and mounts.
Aesthetics and feel of the game are closely reminiscent of the OG PC game.
Jungsoon Lee, President of Nexon North America, told Venture Beat that they received “very positive feedback from global audiences”.
He added, “Preregistration for the game also reached 1 million within a very short period.”
“First released in Korea in October 2016, MapleStory M quickly became the No. 1 ranked free game on both the App Store and the Google Play Store and amassed over 2 million downloads in the first two weeks.”
Time to take a trip down memory lane!
