Grab today (5 November) announced that it has enhanced GrabShare’s algorithm to better match drivers to users, maximising route efficiency and minimising detours.

GrabShare customers may take up to three destinations during their ride, up from just two previously.

While that may mean a longer ride, fares will be up to 35% cheaper than a JustGrab ride.

Before this, GrabShare’s fares were up to 30% lower than a GrabCar ride, a Grab spokesperson shared with me in a call.

The company shared that the update will be rolled out progressively from 12 November to selected Grab passengers, and will be available to all users by the end of the month.

Grab explained that this update will reduce idle time and increase earnings for drivers as GrabShare matches improve.

Drivers who get an unmatched GrabShare ride are protected with Grab’s newest Earnings Guarantee programme, insuring drivers’ earnings when they meet weekly trip targets.

Under this programme, if a driver is unable to obtain a certain amount of earnings despite meeting trip targets, Grab will top up the amount, according to the statement.

From 12 November, drivers who use the Auto Accept function will be refunded 100% of the commission for any unmatched GrabShare Ride they complete, the statement read.

Andrew Chan, Head of Transport, Grab Singapore expressed excitement in the algorithm enhancement and added that the company will continue to “gather user feedback” and make more improvements for drivers and users.
