Singapore Sports Hub and homegrown premier esports organisation, Team Flash, today (1 Mar) announced their partnership to cultivate and develop local esports talent as they unveiled a new training facility for the athletes.

This esports training facility will be accessible 24/7 to Team Flash’s athletes and there are suggestions that it could be turned into a “team house” where athletes may be able to live together and train together.

In light of Singapore’s participation in the SEA Games 2019 in the Philippines and the Asian Games 2022 to be held in Guangzhou, China, Team Flash athletes can expect to benefit from the provision of a structured and conducive training environment.

This partnership would give these professional gamers access to the Hub’s facilities as well as pave a way for budding esports talents to grow.

Addressing the media, founder of Team Flash, Terence Ting revealed that discussions began last August after their participation in the EA Champions Cup where they won USD$208,000 in team prize winnings.

On the collaboration, Terence described the Singapore Sports Hub as the “home to national athletes” and that it has the infrastructure that can support esports athletes in the integration or implementation of a regime similar to traditional sports.

With this, Singapore Sports Hub enters the esports foray and aims to position itself as the hub for this fast-growing industry, following the hosting of Hyperplay last year, the first-ever ASEAN esports and music festival, organised by MTV and Riot Games.

Sports Hub also played host to the AOV (Arena of Valor) Valor Cup organised by the Singapore Cyber Sports Online Gaming Association (SCOGA).

This partnership will also see the Singapore Sports Hub becoming the first predominant sports venue to support a team-exclusive facility with Team Flash.

Moving forward, both organisations will conduct workshops, community activations, and host esports events in Sports Hub venues.

Team Flash is present in Vietnam and Singapore with a portfolio of five professional teams in Arena of Valor, League of Legends, FIFA, Hearthstone, and Fortnite.
