An Ode To 90s Arcade: Capcom’s New Retro Game Console Includes Classics Like Street Fighter II

Capcom Home Arcade

Following the success of retro game consoles like the NES Classic and Playstation Classic, video game developer Capcom is cashing in on the trend with a retro game console of their own.

Dubbed the Capcom Home Arcade, the system comes preloaded with 16 arcade games from the brand’s storied catalogue, which include classic titles like Final Fight, Alien vs. Predator, and Street Fighter II.

For easy reference, here’s the full list of games:

01. 1944: The Loop Master
02. Alien vs. Predator
03. Armored Warriors
04. Capcom Sports Club
05. Captain Commando
06. Cyberbots: Fullmetal Madness
07. Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors
08. Eco Fighters
09. Final Fight
10. Ghouls ‘n Ghosts
11. Giga Wing
12. Mega Man: The Power Battle
13. Progear
14. Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting
15. Strider
16. Super Puzzle Fighter II: Turbo

While the retro game consoles we’ve seen so far are essentially miniature versions of their original designs, it looks like Capcom is going with a different approach, opting for the shape of their logo instead. It’s a weird choice, to say the least, but the two in-built competition class joysticks mean that you won’t have to fiddle with any controller wires.

Like other retro game consoles the Capcom Home Arcade will be powered via Micro USB, and connect to a display through HDMI. One feature that sets the Capcom Home Arcade from the competition is wi-fi connectivity, which allows players to access a worldwide high score leaderboard and compare their scores with other players.

The Capcom Home Arcade will be available in Europe on the 25th of October for €229.99 (approximately S$350), with pre-orders already open on the official Capcom store.

There’s currently no word on when the rest of the world can buy it, but you can bet that we’re going to get one when it does.
