Electric Vehicle Owners In S’pore Can Use Selected BlueSG Charging Points For $20/Year

Electric car-sharing operator BlueSG has opened up its charging points to the public yesterday (April 23).

With this move, BlueSG hopes to provide more accessibility and encourage adoption of greener vehicles in Singapore.

Private electric vehicle owners can now access BlueSG’s 99 charging points across 25 locations islandwide.

This constitutes only 13 per cent of BlueSG’s network of 755 chargers at 191 stations.

BlueSG had previously expressed that it will be opening up 20 per cent of its projected network of 2,000 chargers by 2020.

The available charging stations will be displayed on the BlueSG app, and EV owners can book a charging point up to 45 minutes in advance.

Private electric vehicle owners would have to subscribe to the service via BlueSG’s mobile app or website at $20 for a year’s membership.

Tariffs are charged at $1/hour for the first three hours, and $2/hour for the subsequent hours.

The tariffs are fairly pricy but can be seen as reasonable when you consider it as part of parking charges, especially when it takes several hours to fully charge up a typical EV.
