2018 has been quite an exciting year for homegrown gaming chair brand, Secretlab.

They inked a partnership early that year with PGL, an esports company known for organising major Dota 2 and CS:GO tournaments, and kicked it off by sponsoring chairs for the Dota 2 Bucharest Major.

Secretlab also sponsored esports group Team Secret ahead of the eighth edition of Dota 2’s The International where they made exclusive Secretlab x Team Secret chairs for the players.

Inspired by the streetwear hype last year, they also launched the “ultra-soft and fluffy” SoftWeave option for their chairs.

As the bells rang for the end of 2018, Secretlab launched their ‘Neue’ line of office chairs under their subsidiary brand, Neue.

The Secret’s Out

It’s only the first half of 2019 and Secretlab has already launched a pretty impressive range of chairs influenced by pop culture icons.

Here’s a list of chairs released so far:

Besides commanding the EDM/rave crowds at music festivals, the Canadian DJ is also known for streaming his PUBG and Diablo 3 games on Twitch.

As he pulsed out his beats at the Miami Ultra Festival 2019, the deadmau5 x Secretlab chair made an appearance in his cube v3.

“Producing music means I spend most of my hours seated, and I really needed a comfortable, fully-adjustable and incredibly well-constructed chair,” said deadmau5, whose real name is Joel Zimmerman.

“After trying out Secretlab’s chairs, they were so superior in quality and comfort, it was the only choice I wanted not just for myself, but for all of my fans through a world’s-first Secretlab deadmau5 gaming chair,” he added.

“That, and I love gaming, so there’s no reason not to enjoy the best comfort throughout work and play.”

League of Legends (LoL)

Secretlab kicked off the start of 2019 with a partnership with Riot Games to be the sole sponsor of gaming seats for its LoL tournaments.

They first launched the Secretlab LCS Edition to commemorate the event, and as the event wrapped up, they did a giveaway for their exclusive Golden Secretlab LCS chair.

There’s only three of these in the world and are not for sale.

This was followed by the Secretlab MSI Edition to mark the game’s first international tournament of 2019.

It seems LoL fans can expect two more designs from the LoL x Secretlab partnership.

Batman

The Dark Knight rises to the new occasion with this Secretlab x Batman chair.

This sleek chair is not only fit for the protector of Gotham, but also for fans of the superhero.

Perhaps we can expect more DC tie-ups in the future?

Game of Thrones

The night gathers but you don’t really want your watch to end.

In a collaboration with HBO, Secretlab has launched the House Stark, House Lannister, and House Targaryen chairs.

Ruling the Seven Kingdoms can be a demanding job, so why not trade in the Iron Throne for a Secretlab x GoT one?

In the lead-up to the ninth edition of this year’s The International (TI), Secretlab has created a special, not-for-sale chair for the recent MDL Disneyland Paris Major.

Secretlab 2020 Series

Not one to rest on their backrests, Secretlab announced on Wednesday (22 May) the release of their new 2020 Series.

With this new line, Secretlab has taken the term ‘new and improved’ to another level.

They’ve made over 20 improvements to the 2018 Series, but the most significant ones are the upgraded Secretlab PRIME 2.0 PU leather, patent-pending cold-cure foam seat, smoother full-metal four-directional armrests, and form-fitting memory foam pillows.

Of course, the 2020 Series comes with all the works – including existing world-class features, such as the multi-tilt mechanism, full-length recline backrest, Class 4 hydraulics, and the ultra-sturdy ADC12# Aluminum wheelbase.

Customers who purchase the 2020 Series get a 5-year warranty, up from the previous standard 2-year warranty, and a variety of payment options, shorter delivery time, and 18/7 customer service.

It all started three years ago, before the 2018 Series even received any acclaim, when the team decided to work on a chair that could surpass industry standards.

To achieve that, they began on their intensive R&D journey that they codenamed Project 2020 because they aimed to complete and launch it in the year 2020.

Secretlab has partnered with Singapore’s national laboratory, A*STAR, to specially customise a series of tests, pitting the Secretlab PRIME 2.0 PU leather against regular PU leather.

The Secretlab PRIME 2.0 PU leather outperformed and in fact, went beyond industry standards in the humidity and sweat tests, as well as the Martindale Abrasion Test.

Certified TÜV SÜD and also recognised by international authorities, the 2020 Series is a mark of quality and class by Secretlab.

Ian Alexander Ang, co-founder and CEO of Secretlab, said:

“Product quality has always been our focus, and after three years of R&D and rigorous testing, we’re now ready to release the 2020 Series—the Endgame for gaming seats.”

He believes that the 2020 Series is “far superior” to other products on the market, as it becomes the “gold standard for keeping gamers comfortable”.

Vulcan Post received a 2020 Series to try out and we’ve spent a day on it so far.

While the difference isn’t noticeable at first, I noticed that my back is less strained by the end of the day.

Usually, I’d fidget a lot because it gets warm sitting on the same chair all day, but I realised that I moved lesser throughout the day.

The leather cools much faster and I didn’t need to pat the seat or the backrest like an auntie on the bus.

Everything else worked pretty much like the 2018 Series, except that it’s much smoother and sturdier.

The 2020 updates for the Secretlab OMEGA and Secretlab TITAN models are available now, with limited stocks, in both the new Secretlab PRIME 2.0 PU leather and the Secretlab SoftWeave fabric upholstery options.

The Secretlab OMEGA 2020 is selling at S$499/RM1,472 and the Secretlab OMEGA 2020 SoftWeave costs S$529/RM1,560.

As for the Secretlab TITAN 2020, it’s S$549/RM1,619, and the Secretlab TITAN 2020 SoftWeave is S$579/RM1,708.
