Following LTA’s decision to cancel ofo’s license, the first generation of bike-sharing companies have essentially all bowed out of Singapore.
But new players arrive hot on their heels, with Anywheel recently getting upgraded to a full license to operate a fleet of up to 10,000 bicycles.
Another new firm, Moov Technology, applied and successfully obtained a sandbox license in April, that lets it deploy up to 1,000 bicycles for 12 months.
Moov bought over their 1,000 bicycles from an ofo warehouse and refurbished them with new branding.
They announced the soft launch of their bike-sharing services in Singapore today (24 June 2019).
According to their press release, Moov is focusing on the west region of Singapore, planning to introduce their fleet of 1,000 bicycles in the area by end June 2019.
Their bike-sharing fares will be set at $0.50 per 20-minute usage, or a monthly subscription plan for $6.90 per month.
Users will not have to place a deposit to use the shared bicycles.
Moov says its current fleet is already “fully compliant with the technological and technical specifications set out by the LTA”.
If all goes well, the company also plans to introduce a new “proprietary design” of bicycles by the end of the year, which they hope will “optimise operational efficiency and improve riding experiences”.
