S’pore’s Newest MVNO Grid Mobile Offers 2 SIM Cards, 20GB Data, M’sia Data Roaming For $24.90

There’s a new kid on the block in Singapore’s telco space.

A fifth mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) has entered the market, joining the ranks of Circles.Life, Zero1, Zero Mobile and MyRepublic Mobile.

Called Grid Mobile, this new MVNO is a joint venture between Singtel and ST Telemedia.

According to Grid Mobile, its no-contract plans and upsized mobile data are targeted towards the millennials.

With these offerings, millennials can break free from binding mobile line contracts and no longer need to worry about busting their mobile data limits.

Grid Mobile’s senior director Mohamad Rizal recognises that there’s already a slew of such mobile plan options, but feels that there is still “one major missing piece”.

Beyond offering a mobile plan that integrates into a consumer’s actual lifestyle, Grid Mobile aims to stand out from the rest by offering a plan that is “both useful and fun for the millennial consumer”.

Currently, Grid Mobile offers a no-contract SIM plan that comes with 20GB of data, 200 minutes of outgoing calls, 200 SMSes and 1GB of data roaming in Malaysia for $24.90 per month.

It also comes with free incoming calls and free caller ID.

Beyond these, Grid Mobile subscribers will also get a free buddy SIM card that will give them a further 1GB of data, 25 minutes of outgoing calls and 25 SMSes.

Subscribers can opt to add-on for more data, talktime, SMS or data roaming. They are available in the form of a recurring monthly add-on or a one-time add-ons that will be valid for 15 days only.

For instance, an additional 1GB of data will cost you $6.42, while a 10GB of data will cost you $13.38.

Earn gridPoints To Lower Your Bill

Since the telco space is rather saturated in Singapore already, Grid Mobile has to really step up its game to win a slice of the pie.

Moreover, the three major telco players in Singapore — Singtel, StarHub and M1 — have recently revised their mobile offerings for both handset and SIM-only plans.

To attract subscribers, Grid Mobile has rolled out a referral and loyalty rewards programme for its customers.

It will reward consumers with gridPoints on their birthdays, for their loyalty, and for recommending the telco to a friend.

For instance, you’ll earn 200 gridPoints on your birthday, 50 points every month for staying on the plan, and another 50 a month when you refer a friend.

Also, if your friends sign up during the first three months, you’ll be awarded with 250 points per month. They will also earn 250 points for their first three months.

Sounds good? Well, it doesn’t stop there. You actually get more rewards if you refer more friends.

When you refer two friends in a month, you will receive bill rebates worth $16.50 for your third bill.

By accumulating these points, customers can redeem them to offset their bills, get cashback, or offers from various merchants like Lazada, Spotify and Grab.

In addition, UOB YOLO cardholders will enjoy an exclusive 8% cashback off their mobile bill.
