E-scooter users can now ride around with the assurance that they’ll be protected in case of accidents or injury.
Beam, which was founded in Singapore in 2018 and now operates in six markets, just announced they will begin providing personal accident insurance coverage through a new partnership with Aon.
The new feature is extended to all its e-scooter riders across Singapore, Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand with immediate effect.
Said Beam Vice President of Corporate Affairs Christopher Hilton, “The safety of our users is one of Beam’s key priorities. At the forefront of Beam’s vision to change the way people move is the fundamental belief that every trip must have a focus on safety.”
According to the Summary of Benefits and Claims Guide for Beam Riders (Singapore) on their website, riders in Singapore can be covered for a range of events like bone fractures, loss of teeth, and loss or damage to personal belongings.
It includes a $50,000 coverage for accidental death, or up to $50,000 for permanent disablement caused while riding a Beam e-scooter.
Beam will also cover up to $2,000 in medical expenses, up to $1,000 for fractured bones, and $250 per tooth lost up to $1,000, if their riders get into an accident.
Riders who suffer loss or damage of their personal belonging due to an assault while they’re riding a Beam e-scooter can claim up to $5,000.
