ONE Championship Officially Launches ONE Esports – First 2 Events In Tokyo, S’pore In 2019

In November last year, ONE Championship announced they would be embarking on creating “Asia’s largest global esports championship” ONE Esports, together with Japan’s largest global advertising agency Dentsu Inc.

Along with their partners including Razer and Singtel, ONE Championship planned to invest up to US$50 million in this venture.

It was slated to kick off in 2019 with events held across Asia, featuring multiple blockbuster game titles.

Today, ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong dropped an announcement on his Facebook page to ring in the official launch.

His post confirms that ONE Esports’ first events will be held in Tokyo this October, and in Singapore this December, with “a big event schedule for 2020 and beyond”.

He introduces Carlos Alimurung, former Chief Business Officer at Battlefy and a “seasoned media and esports veteran”, as the CEO of ONE Esports.

He also reveals that PGL, one of the world’s largest esports producers, has joined as one of ONE Esports’ partners.

In what’s gearing up to be a huge event series, we can expect live event broadcasts, documentaries, reality shows, weekly magazine shows, highlights, and video blogs covering the esports action across ONE Championship’s platforms.

“ONE Championship x ONE Esports is going to ignite Asia across TV, digital, mobile, live events, [and] content creation, in a way that will forever change the world!” said Sityodtong.
