A Singapore-based Internet-of-Things (IoT) startup HOMI SmartHome has raised US$1.3 million in seed funding.
They’re being backed by investors SeedPlus, Xoogler Angels, and AngelCentral.
Founded in 2016, HOMI dubs itself the “first smart home managed service in Asia”.
Noticing that people are drawn to the idea of smart homes, but not all understand how to put together an ecosystem of devices, the startup aims to provide the support they need to get there.
They offer curated smart home bundles, as well as provide consultation, installation, maintenance and 24-hour support.
While they’ve developed their own range of devices including smart light switches, air conditioning modules and temperature sensors, they also carry smart home essentials from other brands like Google and igloohome.
HOMI SmartHome founder and CEO Amar Dhillon said the startup wants to tweak to the needs of Southeast Asian customers, as most smart home devices coming from the US “don’t translate” here.
He believes smart home adoption could see a larger uptake in Asia if ecosystems and services are made more available.
With their funding, HOMI plans to scale up their services by adding more installers and architects to their team regionally.
They’re also looking to launch a set of smart home products through payment plans in the next quarter of 2019.
