After raising US$40 million in a series B round last month, Singapore-based co-living space Hmlet launched its largest facility to date in Tanjong Pagar today.
Measuring at 76,000 square feet, Hmlet Cantonment is built on a heritage site from the 1950s, and offers more than 150 individual rooms that provide residents with privacy, housekeeping and laundry services.
The space — located at 150 Cantonment Road — was first occupied by Keppel Primary School, and was later converted into the headquarters of the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB).
“Hmlet Cantonment has a colourful history as a former school and police headquarters, and we are thrilled to be adding co-living facility to the building’s impressive resume,” Hmlet CEO Yoan Kamalski said in a press release.
“We’re excited for Hmlet Cantonment to become a space our members can call home, no matter the length of their stay.”
Featuring a retro-inspired design to pay homage to its history, Hmlet Cantonment also comes with a host of amenities such as communal kitchens, a wellness studio, outdoor plunge pool and relaxation area, as well as an all-day, in-house cafe to encourage interaction among residents.
Strategically located near Chinatown and Duxton Hill, Hmlet Cantonment is highly accessible as well — public transport is a mere 5-minute walk away, while hotspots like Orchard Road, Marina Bay and Sentosa can be reached in 10-15 minutes.
Depending on the room type, prices range between $1,105 to $2,240 a week, which works out to $145 to $320 a night. Members who can commit to a three-month stay and above, however, will enjoy preferential rates that start from $3,240 a month.
Hmlet currently has 75 locations in Singapore, Hong Kong, Sydney and a number of other cities, and plan to build a network across 10 cities in five countries within the next two years.
