Vulcan Digest: Seriously Satire, BlissyBox, Chopstick Diner, The Odin, And More

Editor’s Note:

Hello, readers! And welcome to the month of November! It just seems like yesterday when we first started the year 2014, and now we’re already one month away from 2015. Halloween was just recently over, did you attend any Halloween parties? Since most of our lives now revolves around technology, we came up with a list of 7 Halloween costumes that are creatively inspired by technology.

We featured quite a number of interesting people last week. For one, did you know that Singapore’s very own Tan Kin Lian created his own taxi-booking app even before Uber, EasyTaxi and GrabTaxi became popular in Singapore. We didn’t either! You can find many types of projects on crowdfunding sites, but it’s not often that you see a 2-Star Michelin chef using crowdfunding to provide the perfect dining experience; we spoke to the chef himself to find out why.

In Singapore, creative entrepreneurs try to come up with new ideas and services in emerging markets, BlissyBox is an example of this as it is only the second company so far that caters to the needs of the Singaporean ladies for their ‘time of the month’. Over in Malaysia where food is taken very seriously, we interviewed the supermom of Chopstick Diner who aims to encourage people to eat healthier with deliveries of home-made greens. And not to forget our furry friends, Barkery Oven provides a similar service, but for dogs!

Also, we’re pleased to announce our new biweekly series, Seriously Satire that is here to poke fun at some of the current issues in the world. In the first of this series, check out the next iPhone which is going to be the largest smartphone and can double as a hoverboard!
