With 5 Cameras And Flagship Specs, We Can’t Believe Huawei’s New Phone Only Costs $598

We’re less than two weeks from the unveiling of Huawei’s Mate 30 series, but it looks like the Chinese tech giant still has one more trick up their sleeves before their big event in Munich.

Acknowledging that not everyone is willing to drop upwards of $1,000 for a phone, Huawei unveiled the Nova 5T yesterday, a new mid-range option with some surprisingly impressive specs.

Perhaps the most impressive thing about the Nova 5T is its processor — the phone is equipped with a top-of-the-line Kirin 980, the same chip found in Huawei’s P30 and Mate 20 phones.

If you have no idea what we’re talking about, this basically means that the Nova 5T will run as smoothly as a flagship phone, which — in our experience with the P30 Pro — is pretty darn smooth. In terms of responsiveness you won’t find anything to complain about here.

When it comes to photography, The Nova once again punches above its weight with four rear cameras — a 48 MP main, 16 MP super-wide, 2 MP depth assist and 2 MP macro.

Throw a 32 MP front camera into the mix, and you have a setup that’s definitely above what you’d normally expect from a mid-range phone.

Apart from that, the Nova 5T comes with a 6.26-inch TFT IPS display, fingerprint and face unlock capabilities, and a respectable 3,750 mAh battery that should easily last you a full day of use.

And if you’re feeling a little apprehensive due to the ongoing US ban drama, don’t worry — the phone comes with Android, and won’t ever lose access to it.

Price wise, the Nova 5T retails for $598, which is very reasonable when you look at the specs you’re getting. If you’re looking for a new smartphone without breaking the bank, this is definitely one option to consider.

Pre-orders start today (6th September) at my-huawei.com, and will end next Thursday on the 12th. To sweeten the deal, every pre-order comes with a free pair of Freebuds Lite earphones worth $188, so it might pay off to be an early adopter.

We’re definitely going to be taking a closer look at the Nova 5T (specs on paper are one thing, but how does it perform in the wild?), so keep an eye out on Vulcan Post in the coming weeks for more a more in-depth look.
