SimplyGo With NETS: Your ATM Card Can Be Used To Pay For Public Transport From 16 Nov

In April, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) launched SimplyGo, which allows commuters to tap in and out of MRT and bus rides with their Mastercard contactless bank cards.

The biggest draw is that you never need to top up your card again, as transport fares are charged directly to your debit/credit card like a retail purchase.

It was then extended to Visa cards shortly after.

Today (7 November 2019), LTA announced that SimplyGo will also be available on NETS contactless bank cards from 16 November.

This applies to cards that have the NETS Tap symbol, from participating banks DBS, POSB, UOB and OCBC.

Commuters using NETS Tap contactless cards can register for a SimplyGo account here or by downloading the TL SimplyGo mobile app.

Since launch, LTA says “more than 250,000 commuters” have signed up for a SimplyGo account with their registered bank cards.

Today, more than 350,000 trips on the public transport network every day are paid with SimplyGo.

LTA Press Release

With a SimplyGo account, commuters can view their trip history and receive notifications about the fares they’ve been charged.

Other contactless payment methods and mobile wallets, including Apple Pay, Fitbit Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay and Singtel Dash can also be used with SimplyGo.

LTA is currently working with EZ-Link to allow commuters to upgrade their EZ-link cards to enjoy SimplyGo benefits, like topping up on-the-go.
