Lunar New Year is coming and if you’re not one for family gatherings, you should be going on a solo holiday to enjoy some alone time. Everything’s packed—passports, chargers, extra socks and even a travel iron too.
But if you’re just like me (someone that tends to leave ONE thing behind), then you’ll need a packing list. With just a quick Google search, I could find thousands.
What I noticed? One crucial item people tend to forget is an international SIM card or a pocket Wi-Fi.
Sure, you can get it from the airport, but usually, those prices are hiked up. I’ve done this a few times. Most recently, I resorted to buying a Taiwanese SIM card when I travelled to Taiwan, which costed me quite a lot just to stay connected.
Instead of dealing with that, Celcom is upgrading their roaming product to ease your travel woes, and you don’t even have to change SIM cards.
Stay Connected Just Like At Home
We’re living in a connected world and data arguably is even more important than talk time or SMSes. Many of us don’t know how to live in a world where Google Maps and Instagram aren’t readily and easily accessible.
This is why in conjunction with the Celcom Passport, Celcom is introducing the Roam Like Home feature.
This allows Celcom Postpaid users who are vacation-ing overseas to stay connected even once their roaming data has been depleted, using their Malaysian internet quota.
The countries that we can roam and surf just like home are Singapore, Brunei, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal.
Searching for video reviews of good food while you’re travelling will be stutter-free too.
Roam Like Home is available on 3 different packages of 1-Day Internet Pass, 3 Day 3-In-1 Pass and 7 Day 3-In-1 Pass.
The prices are as follows:
1-Day Internet Pass: RM38 (500MB Internet)
3-Day 3-In-1 Pass: RM88 (1.5GB Internet, 100 mins of calls, 100 SMS)
7-Day 3-In-1 Pass: RM138 (3GB Internet, Unlimited calls and SMS)
If you’re a go-getter and find yourself travelling between these countries a lot, you’ll have the added benefit of being able to use the same package. If I were to travel to Bali for 3 days and then 4 days in Singapore, I’ll still be able to stay connected if I were subscribed to the 7 Day 3-In-1 Pass.
TL;DR:
Roam Like Home allows subscribers to stay online when travelling, even after their roaming data has been depleted. These features are available to those who subscribe to Celcom passport and it comes in three different packages with three different price points of RM38, RM88 and RM138.
