In February, the Government first announced a $77 million Point-to-Point Support Package to help taxi and private-hire drivers tide through dips in business due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

This provided about 40,000 eligible drivers with a relief of $20 per day for three months.

In a supplementary Resilience Budget announced on 26 March, Finance Minister Heng has revealed that an additional $95 million will be set aside.

“Taxi and private-hire drivers have seen their takings fall significantly” in the past month, he said.

With the additional support, taxi hirers and private-hire drivers can continue to receive Special Relief Fund payments of $300 per vehicle per month until the end of September 2020.
