Businesses and students can look forward to Singapore’s first business park that offers access to real-time data from a digital cloud system, and a platform to test their ideas in both live and simulated environments.

The 50-hectare Punggol Digital District is slated to open in 2023 as part of the government’s efforts to transform Singapore into a Smart Nation. This project is a joint venture of JTC and ST Engineering.

The authorities previously announced that the district will house technology firms, create about 28,000 new jobs and offer residents additional dining, leisure and retail spots.

Both JTC and ST Engineering will co-invest equally to integrate smart city solutions including facilities, building and estate management systems, district cooling systems, pneumatic waste conveyancing systems, autonomous goods delivery systems, access and security systems, carparks, traffic lights, and autonomous vehicles.

These digital infrastructure will be powered by the Open Digital Platform (ODP), which acts like a centralised system.

Connected to the sensors and systems around the district, the ODP receives and collects live data, such as rainfall, carbon emissions, resource use and transport conditions.

Businesses can then use the data to come up with new ideas and solutions for living, working and service delivery.
