As StarHub users may know, the telco’s home broadband service experienced a disruption on 15 April.
Users started to encounter slow Internet speeds or outages from around 11am, and intermittent issues continued later in the day.
StarHub explained that the first disruption was caused by an “isolated fault in a piece of network equipment”, which mainly affected customers in the North and North-East regions.
A separate and unrelated incident also occured at 3.50pm, with a network issue affecting StarHub’s Domain Name Servers (DNS) that serve home broadband customers.
The disruptions had serious impacts as many people relied on Internet access while they worked from home.
As a result, StarHub is offering a one-time rebate of 20 per cent, equivalent to six days of free home WiFi service, to compensate affected customers.
The rebate will not be automatically disbursed — if you were affected, you can receive the rebate by filling up a form here.
Affected users must submit the form by 26 April. The rebate will then be credited directly to their bill for May 2020.
