S’poreans, PRs To Get Digital Push Notifications On Passport, IC Matters From Sept 1

The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) has partnered with GovTech to launch a new digital service to push notifications on identity card and passport-related matters from September 1.

Recipients must first have a registered SingPass account. The notifications will be sent either to their SingPass mobile app, or as a text message to their mobile number.

As such, Singapore residents should ensure that their contact details in SingPass are updated, to be able to receive these digital push notifications.

Upon receiving the notification, they can click on the link to be directed to the ICA website to begin their transactions or check on the status of their applications.

The notifications are for matters such as passport and identity card application or renewal, and reminders for collection of the documents from ICA.

Currently, ICA sends these notifications in the form of hardcopy letters and/or email notifications. Singapore residents can also log on to MyICA to check on the status of such transactions.

The ICA website also allows users to log in and check on the status of such transactions.

Singapore residents who do not have a SingPass account will continue to receive hardcopy letters or emails (if they have registered an email address with ICA).

According to ICA, this new push service enables Singapore residents to receive notifications in a more direct and timely manner, and allows them to conveniently proceed to perform the necessary follow-ups.

It added that more digital push notification services for ICA’s other products and services will be progressively rolled out.
