That largely depends on the start-up's objective/s - is it to increase business credibility to attract investors? Is it to reach out to specific audience group who's most likely to become your first adopters? Setting the right objective/s will help a start-up to then determine the methods of getting there. And no, getting media coverage is not an objective. That's a means to an end (that's the objective/s).
