Hot on the heels of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) bringing up a legal case against popular online talking head @1Obefiend, another popular Twitter voice is now under an MCMC probe for posting a tweet insulting to a member of Malaysia’s royalty.
Stevie Chan, better known on Twitter by his handle @YouTiup, posted to his Twitter followers yesterday evening that his home was subject to a visit by police officers and MCMC officials:

This comes less than a week after the MCMC announced that Effi Nazrel Saharuddin aka @1Obiefiend had been charged under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for his “offensive tweets”.
After Effi’s trial was announced by MCMC, an image was spread on Twitter showing a reply letter from MCMC to a complainant promising an investigation soon into Chan, reports Zurairi AR of The Malay Mail Online.
Chan had commented on Twitter after the death of Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah late last month, saying among others: “he will be remembered for only one thing, the menteri besar crisis. and rightly so.”
He later deleted the series of tweets and apologised: “again, I would like to apologise to the late sultan’s family for my careless tweets. any hurt caused much regretted.”
