Malaysian Airlines Makes Long Distance Relationships Look Easy With This Video

“Have you ever loved someone so much, you’d give an arm for?” These are the words of a very wise poet—actually, they belong to Eminem (but I guess the point is still relevant).

Have you ever truly loved someone for who they are and no matter where they are?

That’s a question we all have to ask ourselves one day (if you could do it now, it would be much better). While, most of us might answer ‘yes’, some of us still haven’t found a person that we could love.

Don’t worry, you will find someone one day.

Might I also add that you might not be that lucky and you might end up dying all alone but it’s always good to be optimistic.

Meanwhile, somewhere in London, a young man called Aadil has found the “one” that he wants to spend the rest of his days with. Malaysian Airlines recently released a touching video that sheds light upon Aadil’s long distance relationship with Athirah.

The video begins with Aadil mentioning that he carries a key chain around wherever he goes to, it reminds him of Athirah, obviously. And every time he passes by something special, he snaps a picture and sends it out to Athirah as a way of letting her know that she’s missed.

He claims that at times he even gets weird looks from people but that never stops him from expressing his love.

That’s really sweet, I might never be the guy that ends up taking pictures of butterflies in order to let someone know that they are special, but I’m definitely the guy that would have given Aadil weird looks if I ever hung out with him.

Aadil also talks about his parents and how they were born in Malaysia and how they moved out to the UK. He also sheds a brief tear when he mentions that he would like to repay his parents for everything that they have done for him within a short period of time.

Touching, truly touching.

The first time that he met the love of his life was when he was going to pick her up from the airport. Amidst the nervousness, he knew that she’s the “one” and he headed out to Kota Bharu (or humourously referred to as Newcastle, in English) to meet with Athirah’s family.

After meeting with the family, he let them know that he’s willing to get married to her. Both families were glad and the couple is currently engaged.

However, I don’t think the point of the video is to drive home the fact that either of them is overcoming a major obstacle in their lives to make the relationship work (well, they are) but the main idea is presented at the end, where Aadil explains that regardless of where ever he is, he would want to spend life with Athirah as she gives him the feeling that “he’s home”.

You can check out the #lundangtonewcastle video here.

And that’s the idea that Malaysian Airlines is trying to send home with this video, “Home is not a place, it’s a feeling.” While the homeless might disagree with that, this also serves as a reminder to Malaysians who are either living or travelling abroad, that no matter where they go, home is where the heart is.
