Megafash Launches Third Physical Store At Orchard Gateway, Has Plans To Go Regional

Here at Vulcan Post, we’ve got our eye on online shopping platform Megafash for a while now. Earlier this year, they launched two physical stores at Wisma Atria and 112 Katong, and now, they’re back with a third at Orchard Gateway.

But these are not just the usual offline arm of online shopping destinations. What’s interesting about these stores is that each operates with a different theme, and house products and brands that are in line with those themes.

Here’s a look at each outlet and its corresponding theme:

The store at Wisma Atria is the smallest of the three at 700 sq ft, but comes stocked with eco-friendly products like watches from Forrest, which are designed and created with natural materials. They’ve also gotten on board Rocca, a brand that handcrafts wallets from stones (yup, you read that right).

So don’t discount its size just yet; this may be one of the more environmentally friendly stores you visit this weekend.

Having paid a visit to this outlet ourselves, we can attest to the wide range of items offered at Megafash’s largest physical store. Of the three outlets, this is the one that showcases the most clothes, so if you’re looking to update your wardrobe, this might be the one to visit. It stocks the famous Statement Tees (don’t say #bojio), and Plain Supplies, which offers wrist accessories.

This is Megafash’s latest physical outlet to open, and with a theme like Adventure, anything could happen, really. But some of the items we can look forward to include backpacks, sunglasses and other lifestyle products from brands like The Lost Nomad.

When online stores go offline

Ngeow Jiawen, CEO and co-founder of Megafash, explained the brand’s decision to open offline stores: “We decided to expand into offline retail to cast a wider net for our brands. By making them more accessible to the local shoppers who may not be reached online, we are able to capture a new segment of customers. Being offline also creates an environment whereby see, touch and feel is possible, giving us the ability to interact with our customers on a new level.”

She further elaborated on the vision that Megafash has for independent makers across South East Asia, which is to be a bridge between them and shoppers, eliminating the problems that come about with language barriers and a lack of marketing tools. To do so, they have locals scouting for products on the ground in various countries like Thailand and Vietnam, where they help to find out more about the stories behind each product.

In the future, Jiawen says, the team plans to bring Megafash into the regional market, and they’ve already carried out market tests in a step towards that goal. So if you’re wondering what you can do this weekend with the haze out in full force, perhaps shopping is the answer you seek.
