[UPDATED] Pokémon GO To These 16 Hotspots In KL To Refill Your Pokéball And Potion Stash

UPDATE: We’ve added even more places that are full of Pokéstops and cool Pokémon around KL (and one a little further off). Happy Pokémon-hunting!

Malaysia has finally been bestowed with the blessed light of Pokémon GO this morning, so now you can run around your neighbourhood and catch Pokémon to your heart’s content.

Unfortunately, not all of us are lucky enough to live/work near a Pokéstop or Pokégym (sigh) but here’s a list of places in KL that are chock full of Pokémon goodies for you to snap up.

KLCC Park

This one isn’t really a surprise, since most people would flock here to catch new Pokémon. Twitter users have tweeted tons of reports of all the Poké-treasures awaiting you at the park, so drop by if you’re in the area and start hunting!

Sunway Pyramid / Sunway Lagoon

Tons of people have reported that Sunway Pyramid and Sunway Lagoon are knee-deep in Pokéstops, so make sure to take advantage and open up your Pokémon GO app while you’re there.

Zoo Negara

I drove by the zoo myself, and yes, it is full of Pokéstops. Admittedly, you would have to pay admission fees to hunt for Pokémon within the zoo itself, but it’s worth it for the items and Pokémon that you’ll get. Try to also take the time to look at some real animals while you’re there.

SS15, Subang

Residents of SS15 rejoice, for you’re one of the lucky few to live somewhere that’s infested with Pokémon. You won’t be able to walk a few meters without bumping into a Pokéstop or two.

Bukit Bintang

At such a popular, tourist-y place like this one, it’s no wonder that you can find Pokémon GO goodies at every corner. Places like Pavilion Mall have lures set up so take advantage. It might be jammed in the area so ditch the car and wear some comfy footwear instead.

Publika

Again, it’s not really a surprise that malls like Publika are full of Pokéstops and gyms. If you’re in Publika, make sure to go to the outdoor Publika Square, we heard there are lots of Pokémon to be caught there.

LRT stations

Pokémon GO hack: If you want to catch Pokémon fast, just hop on to an LRT and leave your app on while enjoying the ride. Many people have reported that simply sitting in an LRT has gotten them tons of Pokémon, and most LRT stations are Pokégyms too! If you want to up the ante even more, activate incense while riding. But so far, the LRT stations with apparently the highest number of Pokémon inhabitants would be the KLCC (obviously), Kelana Jaya station, KL Sentral, and Tasik Bandar Selatan station.

Jaya One

Here’s another place with lots of juicy Pokéstops to refill your Pokéball stash and maybe grab an Egg or two. University students nearby can use this place as a quick refuel for their Pokémon items.

Bangsar

Hey, Pokémon want to be hip and happening too, okay? Loads of Pokémon to be caught on the streets of Bangsar, especially Bangsar Shopping Centre and Bangsar Village area. You can even stop by for a cup of artisanal coffee when you’re feeling drained. Protip: Lots of your favourite cafés in the area are jumping on the bandwagon and putting out lures within their premises, so you can fill your Pokédex and your empty stomachs at the same time!

TTDI

Here’s a neighbourhood that has plenty of Pokéstops around. We’ve heard that there are a lot of Zubats and Geodudes here, but if you’re lucky, you may find some rarer Pokémon.

Jalan TAR

There’s a whole string of Pokéstops here, so walking would be a better idea than driving. Driving slow just to stop by each Pokéstop isn’t a safe option!

One Utama

Yet another mall on this list, both the old wing and the new wing are full of Pokéstops. If you want a breath of fresh air, try taking a walk around the park, there’s plenty of Pokémon to be caught there too!

The Curve, Mutiara Damansara

Well, The Curve isn’t the only place there that’s great for us Pokémon trainers. The whole area, including IKEA, IPC Mall, and E@Curve, is a goldmine of lured Pokéstops and gyms. And since there’s lots of open-air spots within these malls, you won’t be running into that damn ‘GPS signal lost’ problem!

Mid Valley Megamall

Mid Valley is filled to the brim with Pokéstops, especially around the outdoor fountain area. Coupled with the fact that there’s almost always lures dropped out there, you won’t have to move your lazy ass an inch to catch tons of Pokémon. Don’t be surprised to see Pokémon trainers still going at it even into the wee hours of the morning!

Desa Park City

When it comes to parks, you’ll know that there’s going to be hordes of Pokémon trainers swarming the place. And Desa Park City is no different, seeing as there’s tons of Pokéstops there (with lure modules to boot). Loads of people have posted pictures of zombie-like players, with their heads bowed and fixated on their phones, wandering around Desa Park. Care to join them?

Amcorp Mall, PJ

Even though this mall isn’t the newest or the most popular, they haven’t been forgotten in the world of Pokémon. Pokéstops and gyms galore to be found within their walls. Hint: lots of people have reported Pikachu sightings at the lake outside the mall. Someone even caught three of them!

Bonus: Genting Highlands

Even though Genting Highlands is about an hour’s drive from the city, some people gladly take up the challenge in order to reap the treasures awaiting them in the hills. Lots of Pokéstops abound in the misty highlands, and if you dare, you could even wander around the ‘haunted’ places like Amber Court or First World Hotel to find some Ghost Pokémons. Don’t forget your jacket!
