Ah shopping, the one true love of Singaporeans. Well, that along with food. But do you know what Singaporeans love more than shopping? If you’ve ever noticed, stores both offline and online, tend to enjoy peak shopper traffic whenever discount banners are flying.
If you’ve ever experienced this, chances are you number amongst our local bargain hunters as well. Data shows that 81% of Internet users regularly use coupons and discount codes, so it’s not just Singaporeans who are becoming more tech savvy about saving money.
Anyone who has spent enough time on e-commerce sites would have at some point, heard of the site Picodi.
Picodi is a global discount site aggregating e-commerce sites like Lazada and Shopee, NTUC Fairprice and I kid you not, Grab and Uber promotions.
To commemorate the new year, the startup has launched a new site – Picodi Sale.
Shop Till You Drop
Picodi Sale is a new platform on Polish startup Picodi that brings together not just discount codes, but also monitors shopping occasions and price reductions on branded clothing.
I.e. the clothing items on sale.
I.e. all the sale items you could dream of on one. Single. Platform.
This innovative new service is targeted at online shoppers who want to save money and time, by creating a platform that combines all stores into one. Online shoppers no longer need to compare multiple sites, and can simply browse products by category.
Similar to the global shopping festivals that Picodi features, Picodi Sale will also be taking part in sharing promotions and sale items for festival periods.
Needless to say, their upcoming promotions include Chinese New Year shopping, where they have partnered with the big players, running the gamut from Lazada to travel sites Roomorama and AirAsia.
For this period, the startup has also collaborated with local startup Shopee and influencer to organise a giveaway contest.
Innovating Smart Shopping
According to Picodi CEO Szymon Dobosz, Picodi Sale is meant to “inspire users to make informed decisions by showing them a range of products from different categories, available offers and stores and by giving them a tool to compare prices and promotions.”
The team consolidated local markets into a single domain in 2016 with the aim of developing, not just the Picodi brand, but the market landscape as well.
Picodi is already well-known for featuring global shopping festivals such as Black Friday and the Great Singapore Sale, bringing all the best deals under one roof for Singaporeans.
Every campaign also allows the company to bolster its reputation as a reliable and trustworthy e-commerce leader. And the team does not intend to stop and settle for what they have already achieved.
The end goal for the Polish start-up is to become an indispensable partner to millions of people in their shopping. In order to achieve that, Dobosz comments that they are always planning on new investments that will help Internet users become even smarter shoppers.
The company secured an undisclosed amount of investment from the Innovation Nest Fund and are looking towards developing and establishing their products and services in new markets.
Shop Smart
Shopping is one of the great joys of Singaporeans for many reasons, it relieves stress, it creates joy and satisfaction or it may just be a medium through which to learn about the friends you keep your time with.
Although shopping might traditionally be a hobby associated with spending money (discounting window shopping), it no longer has to be an expensive one. Singapore startups have found new ways to revolutionise shopping through discounts and cash back options.
With the introduction of Picodi Sale, there is no doubt that the shopping landscape is about to get more exciting than ever.
